Please review this document for information on the services that The Counseling Team International provides employees with the Orange County Fire Authority.
- Confidential short-term comprehensive counseling services to fire personnel, retirees, and their family members living in the same home.
- Short-term counseling is determined by the Mental Health Professional (MHP) on a case-by-case basis.
- If it’s determined that the issues require long-term counseling, then the MHP can refer accordingly.
- 10 visits per issue per year.
- Reasons for counseling include, but are not limited to: marriage, family and relationships; alcohol and/or substance abuse; supervisor referrals; stress management; anger management; retirement issues; PTSD, bereavement, critical incidents, depression, child and elder care, anxiety, disability, disciplinary issues, medical problems, suicidal ideations, work issues, etc.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- TCTIs MHPs are trained in EMDR which has the purpose of enabling a cognitive restricting approach to reduce stress in people with PTSD. EMDR treatment along with a full treatment plan has had very positive results.
- Supervisor counsel and referral
- Captains can call TCTI with behavioral health issues or concerns they may have and receive advice and/or assistance
- Appointment scheduling
- Call TCTI at 800-222-9691 between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
- TCTIs staff is available to provide comprehensive counseling services in a convenient and timely manner in one of their many locations throughout southern California.
- After a short intake, TCTI will offer an appointment within five days from their call.
- For emergency crisis, they do have 24/7 assistance by calling 800-222-9691 and counselors on-call.
